US Supreme Court Rules For Maine Union In Dues Dispute

MPBN Reports

January 21, 2009 Reported By: Josie Huang

Today, the union representing state employees in Maine was handed a victory by the U.S. Supreme Court. The justices unanimously ruled that state workers who are not members of the Maine State Employees Association must still pay certain fees.

Kudos to Dan Locke and the other 1,000 state employees who have exercised their right not to join the Maine State Employees Union. You, alone and together, epitomize the true Maine Yankee independent spirit.

Thumbs down to the Maine State Legislature and Govenor Baldacci for their poor decision to pass the challenged legislation that reduces all state workers to an even lower common demoninator.
